The Quezon City Public Library

Hello everybody, I am Janet, you can call me "Neth" for short and I welcome you all at the Quezon City Public Library (QCPL). But before I go on further let me first give you a brief background of the QCPL. Quezon City Public Library was Inaugurated on October 25, 1948, and did you know that no other than Ms. Aurora Quezon, wife of President Manuel L. Quezon was the one who cut the ribbon during the library inauguration. The QCPL started as a small unit, with 4,000 volumes of books donated by the National Library and was manned by four personnel. The Library was housed on the old post office in a one-storey building behind the Old City Hall Building at Highway 54 (now EDSA). Today - QC Public Library is one of the largest library in Metro Manila. The Reference, Children's, Filipiniana, Periodicals, Multimedia and Law Research Sections comprises the Readers Services. A Technical working area were books are processed for use in the reading area and a Binding Section where Back-issues of important publications, worn-out books  and other reading materials are bound and preserved.

The QCPL is composed of the Main Library  which is located at the back of the QC Hall Main Building and Twenty-One Branch Libraries strategically located all over the Four (4) Legislative Districts of Quezon City. The Main Library alone has a collection of more than 13,000 volumes of books and nine (9) computers available to the public. Lastly, the QCPL  gained the distinction as the Most Outstanding Public Library in the Philippines for the year 2000.
